Donizetti Requiem
American Premiere
of DONIZETTI'S REQUIEM
On the Death of Bellini (1835)
I'll be playing trumpet with the Dicapo Opera Theatre Orchestra, Dicapo Resident Vocal Artists, and the noted Amor Artis Chorus in the American premiere of Gaetano Donizetti's Requiem. "Turning away from the florid vocal style of his earlier operas, Donizetti commemorated the death of his great operatic predecessor, Vincenzo Bellini, with a choral work of uncommon dramatic force. Never heard live in America before, the requiem - long overshadowed by Verdi's - has nevertheless been recorded by two legendary tenors, Nicolai Gedda and Luciano Pavarotti." Conducted by Johannes Somary. The performance is in the beautiful church of St. Jean Baptiste on Lexington Avenue at E. 76th Street in Manhattan. Click here to order tickets in advance.
